Spring Resources

Spring typically brings with it a sense of hope. Flowers are blooming. Animals are giving birth. Life is beginning anew and our hearts feel just the slightest bit lighter.

For SSV, however, this Spring has brought with it many new families just beginning their sad journies. We meet you where you are at, knowing that no amount of sun or fresh blooms can lift your spirit.

Below are a few links you might find supportive during this difficult time.

Exhale Magazine: A literary publication for those who experienced the loss of a baby or struggle to concieve.

Share National: A comprensive website with support for all types of loss as well as online chat rooms and forums.

Babies Remembered: A website maintained by bereaved parent, speaker and author of Empty Arms who will soon be presenting here in Vermont.

The SIMON Project: The Sudden Infant/Child Mourning Outreach Network and hosting group of Sherokee Isle's workshops in May.

Action Steps You Can Take This Spring

Join us on International Babylost Mother's Day - Sunday May 2nd, at the Angel of Hope in Ruland, Vermont (corner of Deer Street and Woodstock Ave - Rt. 4). Bring a picnic lunch, any memorabilia you would like to share of your angel baby and please bring your living children. This is a time for celebration and memory.

Join us for the 2nd Annual Walk for Hope and Remembrance - Saturday, May 8th along the Toonerville Trail in Springfield, VT. Details and pre-registration information by clicking above.

Attend a support group. We meet again Wednesday, May 12th at the Whiting Library in Chester, Vermont.

Plant a tree in memory of your baby

Start a blog and connect with thousands of other hurting families who get the rollercoaster of emotions you are feeling. You can visit some existing blogs at http://www.babylossdirectory.blogspot.com/.

Email your emotions: Your 'purging' emails are always welcome. Whatever you are feeling in that moment just put it into the computer with a 'no need to reply - just venting' message in the subject line. (sharesouthernvermont@gmail.com)

Write a letter to your delivering doctor / hospital: Share with them what you appreciated about your experience, what you wish had happened, and what you'd like to see put into place for other families who live this tragedy. Even if you never send it, processing your experience in this way is powerful. Hospitals often like to hear your feedback and want to know they are meeting your needs during such a tragic time, so if you do choose to send it you will be making a difference.

Call if you need us: Our crisis line is now available. 802-738-3411
