In January we submitted a grant to the Vermont Women's Fund. If they allot us the funds (notification is in April) we will be able to make and distribute 50 Forever In Our Hearts Packages. Each box includes a set of memoralizing tools - including one of our hardwood, handmade memory boxes, to set the stage for healthy grieving from the onset.
In addition, the Board of Directors has just completed a presentation for the Vermont Country Store Community Partners Foundation. The 45 minutes powerpoint presentation highlighted all that SSV has accomplished in it's first year of service to the grieving communities of Southern Vermont. A heartfelt message was also delivered by a parent panel, driving home the purpose of Share to grieving families.
We asked for enough funds to train two more board members as grief counselors and meeting leaders. We also asked for community event sponsorships enabling us to offer the Walk for Hope and Remembrance and the Wave of Light candle lighting ceremony without any registration costs or fees. Both events are services to greiving families and those who support them.
